It's the first Halo Night of the spring, the the plasma grenades are in full bloom! We had a relatively small turnout this month, but we did enjoy a strong variety of games for our second ever pure-Reach Halo Night. Add to that a newcomer and a new and improved O'Brien Award for Halo Excellence or Luck, and we had just the right combination to make for a fun night.
After WhiteNoise486's sniping dominance on the Spire last month, stinklikeonion decided to mix things up a bit to complicate (but apparently not prevent) a victory for him on this map. With gravity set at the weakest setting (50%) and jump power set to its highest (300%), jump packs proved to be the fastest way to the top. The end result was likened to Dragonball Z on more than one occasion.
Later, we tried our hands at Infection on Boardwalk (a map we also found to be quite annoying with an unmoving King of the Hill), which saw mushashi as the frequent[-ly ineffective] zombie. His primary strategy seemed tbe be to chant "zombie-zombie-zombie-zombie" over and over. When that didn't work, he tried an alliance with WhiteNoise486 (who would just wait in the open to be found). That seemed to work better for both of them.
Despite an odd number of players, we gave a round of Grifball a shot. With one player having never played Grifball, it proved to be generally a well-balanced game, with the lead exchanging a few times until it was all tied up at 3-3. Then, the Red team was suddenly able to take advantage of the missing Blue player, scoring three slam dunk goals in a row. We did learn something, however. Unlike Halo 3, two people swinging hammers at each other both die here.
