On a hot summer night in Texas, we had another great Halo Night at Riley Craven's house. With stinklikeonion bringing stories of his new dad experiences along with the O'Brien he would defend (and lose) later that night, and with Zamurai278 not attached to mushashi's hip for a night, the night was destined to be a bit of something new. Several new maps were played including our first Halo Night original for Reach.
We started out the night with a simple slayer match on Anchor 9, our first foray into that particular map since the official Halo Night switch to Halo Reach. Most of the players spent most of the match fumbling their way around, locating weapons and killing when opportunism served them, but WhiteNoise486 clearly already knew his way around, mopping the floor with the rest of the players.
Our second match of the night was another Halo Night first (Countdown). To be specific, it was a round of Headhunter. And, as expected, WhiteNoise486 had another one-sided victory, though stinklikeonion had held his ground for a good portion of the match despite only scoring 4 in the previous match. Let's face it; it's assumed that WhiteNoise486 will do well these days.
We did play a couple rounds on a new map variant courtesy of Riley Craven and stinklikeonion. It still had some kinks to work out, but Mush Pit seemed to play well with both a standard slayer and a two-man team slayer match. Go figure that the authors pairing off won the latter, though... Still, 25 to 13 is pretty one-sided in a three team pair-off.
In addition, we played a couple rounds of Infection as well. The new guy was unfortunate enough to be selected as the zombie several times, ensuring that the more experienced players got lots of zombie kills. On the same note, Riley Craven was unfortunate enough to play like a new guy, ensuring that WhiteNoise486 got 4 zombie kills within the first sixty seconds of one match.
